Chippewa National Forest

About
Camping on the Chippewa National Forest can range from a starry night in the backcountry to a developed campground with paved bike trails and hot showers. Chippewa National Forest’s 21 campgrounds and 100 backcountry camping sites. Developed Campground facilities vary from sites with electricity and running water to rustic campgrounds with vault toilets and hand pump water wells. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Sites are open for both tent and RV sites. Backcountry sites can be accessed by foot, boat or car. Campers choose the experience! Visitors can camp throughout the year, but note that most developed campgrounds are open May thru September, with three campgrounds open into mid-October.

CAMPGROUND OPEN SEASON (MAY 1 – OCTOBER 1)
Monday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Tuesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Wednesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Thursday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Developed campgrounds are generally open from mid-May to mid-September. Reservations can be made up to six months ahead of time and must be made at least four days before arrival. Visitors can camp year-round at any National Forest backcountry campsites.

Rates
Daily camping maximum: $26.00
Daily camping minimum: $14.00

For a fee, reservations may be made in advance at some of the campgrounds in the National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS) by calling
1-877-444-6777. Reservations can also be made at www.recreation.gov. Fees are charged only in developed campgrounds.
